Strength In Every Occasion
In Deuteronomy 33, we have the words of Moses speaking and blessing the various tribes of Israel before his death. This particular time, Israel was encamped on the east side of Jordan.
When Moses came to Asher, he spoke of his blessing and also a promise for "strength for every occasion." He said, "your sandals, or shoes shall be as iron and bronze. As thy day, so shall thy strength be." When Moses refers to shoes of iron and bronze, he was not speaking of hardships and trials, but rather, he would be able to tread upon hard places and be victorious. The desert in which they traveled had scorpions and serpents. With shoes of iron and bronze, he would be able to tread upon them.
We are reminded of the words in Psalm 91:13 where the Psalmist said, "you shall tread upon the lion and the adder; the young lion and the serpent shalt thy trample under feet." These words are symbolic of the power and temptation of Satan and God’s promise of spiritual victory over him. Also, in Luke 10:19, Jesus said, "I give you power (authority) to trample on serpents and scorpions and all the power of the enemy." This is the authority through Christ over Satan and demons.
The promise says; "As thy day, so shall thy strength be ." This verse and promise has been a source of great blessing and strength to me over the years. As a Christian, you can claim God’s strength to face any situation. So often, we feel overwhelmed by life and circumstances, but God is the source of our strength. When we face difficult times, hardships and trials, God has promised to measure His strength to equal our need . In Isaiah 40:31, "they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary and they shall walk and not faint." The word renew in this verse means that God will share His strength with us. In Philippians 4:13, Paul said, "I can do all things through Christ Who strengthens me." Paul had a thorn in the flesh for which he had prayed for God to remove. Instead, God said, "My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness." God was saying to Paul; in your weakness, I will perfect My strength.
You may be heart broken. afflicted, and bruised by circumstances or you may be facing hardships and feel that you have come to the end of your rope, but according to God’s promise, whatever your need, He has promised strength. Whatever is required of you today, You can receive God’s strength and grace.
